Windows 7 and Sonar 6
Can'y seem to get my INS working since I bought a new computer with Windows 7. I use Sonar 6 and am using a Korg PA2X keyboard for sounds. Apparently Sonar 7 is not compatible to Windows 7, right? Thanks

Wrong, but you need to use 32 bit

just telling us that you can't get the INS working doesn't really tell us anything useful for us to be able to help you. we'll need more details.

If you loaded Windows 7 64-bit, you need to install a 64-bit driver for your soundcard because it won't work without it.

Okay, let me start over. I mean I am using Sonar 6 NOT 7. As for the details. I would like to use the sounds that are in my Korg PA2X keyboard. I use a Yamaha USB-midi interface UX16 for connection between the computer and the keyboard. When and if I want to change instruments my only options are what is in Sonar 6, i.e. Roland, General Midi, Yamaha etc. When I try to find Korg instruments (which I was using on my old computer) they are not available. I can call up instruments, but not "define" or 'import" etc. So my assumption is Sonar 6 is not compatible with Windows 7. As for 32-64 bit, I plead ignorant. How do I find out what I am using 32-64? Lots of questions but am hoping for simple answers. Thanks again.

MIDI does not transmit audio data so You need to use an audio interface audio inputs to record the sounds of the outboard Korg instrument. But it sounds like your looking for the Korg sound bank in a soft synth?

right - recording MIDI will not get you the sounds of the Korg. you can use the Korg ins def, but that still doesn't get you those sounds - it just allows you to map the note names of the korg to the appropriate MIDI track if you're sending the MIDI data back out to the korg! as far as sonar 6 not being compatible with win7 - maybe not. I would think it would work, but I can't be sure. sonar 6 was the first version which would work in either 32bit or 64bit, but win7 itself was not around and they also have made some corrections since S6 regarding 64bit. but I would think it would work OK in 32bit mode anyway, regardless of being win7.

Don't know about 6, but I'm running Sonar7 in both 32 and 64-bit versions in W7-64-bit. Works just fine.

incredible! all he did was copy the first (my) initial post after the OP! please don't be fooled here folks. this is a spammer. he wants you to click his link in his signature - he's not here to offer any real help. he's been reported and I hope cake blocks his IP.
