Stress-testing my Old Machine with X1

Having just got X1 more or less where I want it, I thought I'd give it a bit of "real world" stress test. In other words, pushing it as far as I'm ever likely to by running the biggest thing I've ever had released and seeing how it went.

The machine is an old-ish Intel dual core duo 1.87 on an ASUS P5Q-Pro MB with 4 Gigs of RAM. I'm doing this in 32 bits on Win 7 64 SP1 with a Layla24 with ASIO @512. There are 60 tracks of intermittent audio, 29 Waves plugs (mostly stereo R Channels) and 8 instances of Perfect Space. There are forests of controllers and envelopes & the track is 9'50" long (just under the iTunes CD-only boarder :-) .

With a similar buffer setting this track would not play on S8.3.1, XP on the same machine: I had to open it right up to do so. But with the above setp it rattles along with barely a glitch at around 1.37 megs of RAM and 60% CPU. At 1024 - smooth as silk.

So I'm pretty pleased with the move. Thought I may have to upgrade but clearly I can live with this a while longer.

Nice =) I noticed that my CPU is barely hit as well, but I'm using a core i7, so it's hard to know if it's sonar or the CPU.

      ......with 4 megs of RAM.

    ...'kin astounding!!!

Even without the typo, I'm surprised to see it running smoother on Win 7.

    As they say....Good job!  :)
