Sonar X1 for video

Ok, so I'm using Sonar 7 32 & 64 bit versions on W7 (64bit). I've never liked Sonar's performance with video. It is its one big failing for me. I have been hearing a lot of very positive things about Nuendo, but really don't want to leave Sonar behind and am hoping that X1 could be the answer. Does anyone know what it's like for hosting video?

Also, I have seen mention of a web trial, but haven't been able to turn anything up in Google. Anyone have a link handy or is it an invite/specific request thing...?

I've never had any good luck with video in sonar. WMV seems to work the best, I convert everything to that first.

    Here's a link to the X1 Trial, no invite needed ... http://www.cakewalk.com/products/sonar/web-trial.aspx

What has not worked for you with video in SONAR before? Is there anything specific? Some formats can behave strangely, but AVIs seem to work very well.

I cannot get AVI's to work in Sonar 64 bit, who knows why.  Agreed, that WMV is the only one that consistantly works.  Quicktime works fine on 32 bit Sonar.

AVIs can use different codecs, so a specific AVI might need a specific codec if it was authored using that codec. WMV is more standard, so I suppose it would be easier to work with them. Plus they are much smaller in size.
