TTS 1 soft synth keeps changing my patch as soon as I click run

In Sonar Producer X1 I've got everything set up correctly, or so it seems, with a MIDI track's input shown as Omni and its output pointing to a TTS1 synthesizer.  The channel is 1.  In the soft synth I have channel 1 assigned to a bass instrument.  I click on the Play icon below channel 1 on the synthesizer interface and a bass instrument correctly plays.  For the corresponding audio track I have the input as being the output of track 1 from the synthesizer and the output as going to my speakers.  If I mute either the MIDI track or the corresponding audio track I am able to verify that the tracks are connected properly.  Now here's the part I don't understand.  As soon as I click Play on the transport bar, immediately the patch on the synthesizer changes to something else and a different input channel is receiving the signal.  I've selected all tracks and brought up the events view and don't see any patch changes listed in the list of events.  Somewhere something is causing the synthesizer to change its parameters as soon as the play instruction is given.  I've deleted the synthesizer and inserted a new one from scratch and exactly the same thing happens.  I have no clue as to what is causing it.  Any ideas?  Any solution would be greatly appreciated.
