Sonar 8.5 studio / tascam us-1641 interface

very new to this. Im a drummer and recording for fun. I am having difficulty getting the right balance of sound when recording. Track input levels vs interface input vol - which should be higher? using effects? getting rid of the garage sound? i have a profile on indabamusic.com - zquirpjive, learn and educate - the drum tracks in that session is what i am working on. Any feedback is worth reading, thanks...dig it

the input volume on your interface is the ideal place to make any adjustments, most people think that volume is easy enough to fix later but the truth is it's next to impossible.
you can try playing with an Eq to reduce any undesirable background noise.

Right. There are no track input levels, only the input from the interface. The volume and gain controls in the track pane are for playback only.
