Audio drop outs and stops in SONAR v7 when using hardware synth via MIDI

Hello,

This problem only occurs for my hardware synths. Software synths work fine.
I use SONAR version 7.

I have two hardware synths (Kurzweil K2600 and Korg M3 module) and the problem replicates the same for each of them. Here is the configuration and symptom:
- The hardware synth is connected to the MOTU Traveler midi/audio interface via MIDI in/out cables.
- The MIDI notes are sent via SONAR

- The master keyboard is a separate keyboard controller connected to the PC via USB and that triggers the notes in SONAR.
- Symptom: I am experiencing audio drop outs when playing or recording. It looks like delays in playing notes on the midi keyboard (and then the notes "stick"). When attempting to record, SONAR just stops (with message "Audio stopped").

Some important remarks:
- The problem only occurs when the hardware synth is connected to the midi/audio interface via MIDI in/out cables. There is no problem when it is directly connected to the PC via USB (tested for the Korg M3, the K2600 does not have USB).
- The problem happens on my desktop PC but NOT on my laptop which has exacty the same midi/audio interface settings and connection configuration. Both desktop and laptop are under Windows XP; however, desktop is under service pack SP3 whereas laptop is still under SP2.
- Therefore I am not sure whether the problem is audio-related, MIDI-related, Firewire-related, or else.

My computer configuration:
- Windows XP Home Edition 2002 (SP3)
- Pentium Dual Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60 GHz
- 1 GB of RAM

Thanks in advance for your help!
