Matrix "column" trigger: hit and miss on first midi notes

My question is should I nudge midi notes that start on 0:00:00 in order to get them to trigger every time...because sometimes they trigger and sometimes they don't.
This includes individual cells as well.

It's as if sometimes the the midi buffer or signal has enough time or info to trigger that very first note(s) and sometimes it doesn't.

I tried changing the buffer time in preferences from 20 all the way up in steps to 500...made no difference at all.

But changing the trigger setting in the Matrix itself to 1/64 seemed to have the least amount of misses.

This is perhaps just a midi thing and of course I wouldn't have this issue if I was triggering rendered audio files...but I don't want to do that at this stage of the project...

or maybe there is a limited number of midi instruments that will work at one time (I have 10 open but only 5 are playing in the first column)

My computer is a brand new HP core i7 870 with 4 gigs of ram using Sonar X1b. Omnisphere, RapturLE, SI bass and SI drums and SI piano.

Two loops are 8 measures long, two 4 and 1 two.

All loops are rendered to groove clips as well (made no difference)

I don't do midi a lot, but I have found that if the time line starts right on the beat, the midi note won't play.. When ever I do use midi, I give myself at least one measure count in. That way the midi note will play

That is actually a useful tip...but one measure will be too much for martix view triggering...so less than a measure...all the way down to a few millisecond nudge is probably the zone to experiment in...

But you answered the key question - a midi note right on the starting beat can miss...bingo.

I say nudge away and see what happens. The only way to answer your question may be to experiment with note start times and see what works and what doesn't.
