I have a theory about the Brontosaurus ... oh yeah.... and Sonar X1

" ....... My theory about the brontosaurus is that it is very very skinny at one end, very very big in the middle and very very skinny at the other end ..... "    M.Python

Sorry - I couldnt resist.

Anyway, back to Sonar.''

Given that we are now some  6 months or so into the X1 cycle and given that X1 was such a huge change from the  S 8.x series and given that all changes so far have been  X1a, X1b  and soon, X1c,  my theory is that we wont see Sonar X2 for quite some time, but rather, we will see something like  Sonar X1.4  or  Sonar X1.5  etc.......  for the next year or so  and that they will be paid updates.

Thats all.

I concur Tim. your findings seem to be in accord with my observations over a prolonged period of intensive study. The thing is indeed skinny on the ends. All else is up for debate right now! :O)

"Good evening. Tonight: "dinosaurs". I have here, sitting in the studio next to me, an elk. Ahhhh!!! Oh, I'm sorry! Anne Elk - Mrs Anne Elk..."

    (and so on)

I don't know about the X1 theory though. I think they generated a fair amount of confusion when they did the 8 -> paid 8.5 thing instead of just calling it 9, and I'm not sure I'd be so eager to repeat that, given that X1 was also itself a bit of a headspin. My own theory is that they might be quite happy to get back to a nice tidy yearly update schedule; not that I'm defending that, per se.. but anyway I'm not sure that there's sufficient evidence to make any bold predictions either way.

.....in the meantime"Ethel the Aardvark Goes Quantity Surveying".

Whatever the next paid update is I don't thnk we'll see it before March 2012.

The 8.5 to X1 cycle was 15 months - if that is to be repeated then March next year it is.

But since it'll be the end of the world soon, maybe we'll get a special edition Sonar 20XII Beta Release to take with us? :O)

I don't know about y'all but I'm poor. I put together a new system for X1, bought the software, A-Pro controller, the cakewalk interface and bought upgrades for several of the included synths. I'm done for now and won't be an early adopter of anything Roland poops out for a while. I still feel that I'm owed something because X1 has had me aging at an accelerated rate for 6 months.

So you're like 6 months older then, eh?
