X1 Demo
This is my second day using the x1 demo and I like it so much i'm going to buy the company. Do you think they will give me 20% off if buy it today? I'm just having a tiny issue with the metronome. In the metronome settings there is nothing showing in the drop menu for metro audio sounds. Ive checked the x1 program files/metronome and all the files seem to be in place. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Do you mean there's no options to select from in the 'first beat' and 'other beats' dropdowns'? If so, that's definitely strange. Have you selected 'audio metronome' on the radio button switch above? And assigned it to an output in the 'output' dropdown just below? The audio files for the metronome should be in: C:\Documents and Settings\***\Application Data\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer\Metronome (where *** is your user name, and substituting 'Sonar X1 demo' or whatever it's called for 'Producer'... and, of course, assuming your program files are installed on the C drive, otherwise substitute the drive they're on)... Is it possible there's something strange in the way the demo installer sets up these files? Or something broken in the way it's looking for them? Is it looking for them in the Producer directory, but that doesn't exist because it's a demo installation? If it doesn't exist, can you create the directory above and copy the metronome files in there and see if that lets the app find them? Sorry, I'm grasping at straws here because I don't have the demo installed here (and, since my X1 is working pretty well I'm not about to go messing with it!)... but hopefully this will help you track it down...

I select use audio metronome but in the first beat and other beats menu there is nothing to select. The metronome audio files are located windows 7 (c) / cakewalk content/sonar x1 producer trial/metronome. Do I need to move them? Thanks for the reply.

I'm still on XP so I don't know what the directory structure of win7 is, but if there's still any such thing as a Documents and Settings folder (hidden?), try looking there in your account for a Application Data\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer trial folder... if it's there, try copying the whole metronome folder there and see if it makes a difference.
If so, then that's a demo bug which we should let CW know about. Someone else was asking about the metronome too and I assumed it just wasn't assigned to an output, but if it's actually not putting the audio files in the right place, that's a bigger problem... if possible, please report back on what you find!

Audio Metronome stuff not showing [was: X1 Demo], also in full version

Hello, @ll; I just signed up to report that I, too, have troubles with the Metronome. The option selects do come up empty for me as well under preferences when set to 'use Audio Metronome'. (I am on Sonar X1 Producer full version, tho (german, and am only just settling in), but as I've run into the same problem I figured it would be OK to append here.) I've tried shoving around the Folder to other likely locations, using the smart AppMover ( http://www.funduc.com/app_mover.htm) which normally does make a truly decent job relocating Folders, but to no avail. Neither - the User Directory (here
"C:\Users\{MyName}\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer") nor - the Program's Installation Directory (here:
"C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer") nor - the Program's Data Directory (here:
"C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk"
did work. SX1P just won't find /show the stuff. Therefore, a question to the builders of the program looks like the natural next step: - a) where does SX1 expect the metronome folder to be, and
- b) where is that location actually set (in which Sonar looks for the Metronome Folder and its contents)? Is it a registry key? Something in an *.ini file? I've scoured my harddrives in depth (using Search&Replace which _does_ look into everything and normally finds everything ;))
If we knew that, we could adjust manually.
Thanks for any help you're able to provide :) (edit:) Forgot to add: am on Windows 7 Professional SP1 (/edit) Cheers - Saur P.S. @Admin/Staff : if you think this reply is in the wrong spot, please be so kind to move it to the correct one, TIA.

Anyone with a working setup under Win7 able to clarify this? again, the files for me under XP are here: C:\Documents and Settings\***\Application Data\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer\Metronome (with *** being the username... maybe it could also be 'All Users' depending on how X1 got installed...) I tested that this is the working location by putting a new audio file in that directory, which subsequently shows up in the metronome dropdown menus. I don't know where this location is set, however...

Hey subtlearts + thx 4 ur reply. The 'right' equivalent of the path you specified would be this, then : C:\Users\{MyName}\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer\Metronome just tried again, to be sure. Moved dir (properly), reopened SX1P. Working. Ho hum. Would still be interesting to know where this path is stored :)

Hey. OK, cool, good to know... it's a bit of a mystery why the installer didn't put them there to begin with, or rather - it's a mystery why it seems to do it sometimes or for some people, or whether it's 'across the board' for the demo installer or not. It may or may not have anything to do with the Windows 7 installer... worth putting the bug in CW's ear however - are you up for putting in a bug report about it? I don't have Windows 7 so can't replicate the issue...

Hi, just had a reply from support and here it is: Please go to your Windows Start Menu and click "Run". Or press WindowsKey+R. At the prompt, type or paste the following: %APPDATA%/CAKEWALK This will open a folder in Windows Explorer. Find the folder named "SONAR x1 ". Right-click on it and choose "rename". Change the folder's name to the following: "SONAR x1 backup" Launch SONAR again and allow it to recopy the application data.’ After following these instructions still no metronome sounds in the program and my pcr 800 had gone from the control surface menu. I did notice an empty metronome folder at this location and simply copied the sounds from the installed location. It works So, for those having the same issue: The trial installer placed the x1 metronome sounds in windows (c)/cakewalk content/sonar x1 producer trial/metronome They need to be copied here; start menu/run/%APPDATA%/CAKEWALK/Sonar x1 Producer Trial/metronome Easy when you know how! Thanks for replying guys. x1 upgrade here I come.
