Fairy Godfather

So, I was wondering about the job description for a fairy Godfather.  I mean, we all have some idea what fairy Godmother's are required to do, but I've never read a story that featured a fairy Godfather in action.  What exactly do they do?

I'm thinking that they spend time working out the contractual fine points of certain favors, placing horse heads on pillows, making offers that cannot be refused, and asking young kids to pull their finger.  They're probably surrounded by other members of their family.  Some of those guys may or may not be wise.  When confronted with a problem, it's likely that the fairy Godfather will ask one of his crew to take care of that situation.  I don't think he's talking about that court jester in New Jersey, either, although I wish he would.

I could be wrong, but it seems likely to me that the reason the Brothers Grimm didn't mention them in their stories is because their fairy Godfather didn't want them to rat him out.  He probably had one of his guys deliver a message to that effect.

The other possibility is that I just need more coffee.

Somehow the term "fairy" and "Godfather" seems to have a conflict of interest.....

I have this picture in my mind of what the Fairy Godfather would like.

I'm picturing Mooch, unshaven for about 2 weeks, with a pair of dirty Angel wings, wearing nothing but a cloth diaper and smoking a cigar.

My God what is wrong with me?
