X1 in Windows 7 with plug-ins, softsynths, etc.

I just downloaded X1 and I haven't installed it yet. I purchased a new computer and I am now running Windows 7. (Used to run XP)

Will my old softsynths be usable in Windows 7 w/Sonar X1?

Softsynths and programs of concern:

  • A lot if IK synths--Miroslav, SampleTank 2.5, SampleTron
  • NI Core free synth
  • Notion 3
  • I'm thinking about buying Kontakt 4, also
Any info regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Depends whether you're installing Sonar 32 or 64 bit. Some 32 bit plugins don't work properly in the 64 bit Sonar. However, I think you can install both versions of Sonar

    Sonar Platinum 64 bit, Windows 10 64 bit, i5 4670K Haswell Processor,  4.2GHz, 8Gb RAM, Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, AMD Radeon R7 260X, 120GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD, 1000GB 7200RPM Hard Disk

Absolutely! You can install 32 and 64 X1. Just remember, with the 32 version you can only access up to 4 gigs of RAM, no matter how much more you have installed.

BTW, I would advise to get JBridge for the plugs that will not work in BitBridge. I had issues with Sampletank. I don't know about the others. It's hit and miss with the older plugs. You just have to try them to find out sometimes. Beware, some of them can completely crash X1. Just re-boot and make a note of which ones don't work in 64. Good Luck!
