Please help! VST automation??? Dimension Pro??

I don't know if this is a problem with all vst synths or maybe I am just doing something wrong but here is my issue.

I want to automate some of the controls in Dimension pro but it seems the read an write buttons are missing at the top right corner of the synth. They are there when I use Rapture but not in Dimension or a few of my other vst synths? I am running sonar x1b on a i7 computer with windows 7 64 bit.

This is because some plug-ins are 32-bit while others are 64-bit. I won't go into the technicalities of what this means at this point.

For your 64-bit Sonar to run the 32-bit plugins, it uses a system called BitBridge. However, BitBridge windows don't have the automation and other buttons. These windows are what you're seeing when your automation buttons are missing. You'll also find you can't dock them in the MultiDock. When running a 64-bit plugin (such as Rapture) then BitBridge isn't necessary and you'll have the automation buttons. This isn't a bug, it's just the way it is.

There are two ways to resolve it:

        1) Use the 32-bit version of Sonar. This would mean however that you could not run your 64-bit plugins, unless:

        2) There is an alternative to BitBridge called jBridge. This converts your 32-bit plug-ins to 64-bit so you can then have your missing buttons and be able to dock the windows. It also works the other way round, enabling you to run 64-bit plugins in 32-bit Sonar. Some people have found this can resolve issues when running certain plug-ins with BitBridge so it is well worth having.
You can still automate your plug-ins even while the Read/Write buttons aren't present. You can either assign a control in the Synth Rack and right-click on it and choose to "Arm for Automation", or I think off the top of my head you can simply arm the track in the track view for automation to arm all parameters at once.
    Hope this helps!

you can just click the write automation button in the synth rack for the corresponding synth.  do it all the time....

Or if you're using an effect, not a synth, just arm the tracks' automation write. It will still record your effect changes.

What about using Dim Pro 1.5 - it's a native 64 bit VSTi so bitbridge isn't needed.

Seeing as you're on X1 you have access to it. Or maybe you haven't updated Dim Pro 1.2 which was not a native 64 bit VSTi
