Alt + Mouse Wheel = Is this a bug??
Hello, I would like to use modifying keys plus the mouse wheel to scroll and zoom. Scrolling has never been a problem using the shift key. However, it appears I've found a bug when attempting to use the above combination to zoom in and out of the TV, PRV. What I would expect to happen is it zoom in and out respectively while locking down the current location as the origin and leave the track height constant. Yet, depending on how many tracks I have, which are selected, etc. I get all kinds of wacky results. For example, in TV it seems to pick a random track and scale both it's length and height. In PRV it scales horizontally only and seems to work fine - Until I move the mouse wheel back. From there on (moving the wheel back and forth) seems to change both width and height. Is this a bug? Sonar X1 Producer (X1b build 255 X64), Mac Pro Late 2009, 8 Gig Ram, V-Studio 700, 100, Windows 7 - 64, Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000, it's dark... and... we're wearing sunglasses.

Update: I get the same results using a stock Dell USB mouse and in both X1b and 8.5. As for a single track changing both height and width scaling, this seems to be massively affected by where the pointer is currently hovering. If it's over a specific track, that's the one that gets scaled in both X and Y. Avoidable I suppose, but still a bit odd. I'd prefer it lock down and left justify the current location. The only way to do that is to hold and hover the pointer to exactly where the current location is while not hovering over a specific track

Check Options > Zoom Options in the TV menu, and if the behavior still doesn't make sense, tell us exactly what all your selections are.

Thank you! That helps a lot. Now I have Zoom in/out set "At Now Time" and Vertical set to "On Active Track" But there seems to be no way to force scaling only in the X and not Y. I can live with that but it would be nice to have a way to lock down either X or Y. Seems its Y or Both.

In Track view, under Options - Zoom options, you can define how the ALT+scroll wheel zoom should work, and by un-checking "Simultaneous horizontal and vertical zoom" you can use ALT+scroll to zoom vertically only, and ALT+CTRL+scroll to zoom horizontally only. I was like "wow, how come I have been missing this for so long" :)

I tried un-checking "Simultaneous horizontal..." at some point. But it didn't quite work for me as I expected. So instead I left it checked but set my Y scale factor to 1.0. I forget what was wrong with the other way, but this way is another way to go.

by un-checking "Simultaneous horizontal and vertical zoom" you can use ALT+scroll to zoom vertically only, and ALT+CTRL+scroll to zoom horizontally only. That's how I'm set up.

Thanks guys, I have to say. X1b is growing on me quickly! Now all I have to do is finish off some instrument definitions and I'll be golden
