Music Creator 4: Deleting first part of a track and moving remaining part to the left.
Okay, I know how to select and delete events in a track. What I'm having trouble figuring out is moving the remaining parts to the left. I don't want to nudge it, I want to pick it up and carry it all the way.

Why won't nudge work for that purpose? I don't have this program but can't you just click and drag clips to a new location?

If I understand correctly, you have deleted some events between Time A and Time B and now you want to select all the events in all of the tracks after Time B and move them to a new Time somewhere around time A. ( Assuming you have already deleted the events between Time A and Time B ). *** Make sure you disable or set the Snap properties properly before Dragging any segments otherwise you may not be able to get the events exactly where you would like them. 1. Set the Now marker at Time B 2. Select all the events in all the tracks. This is easily done using Cntrl A shortcut 3. Now use the Select From now function ( Edit->Select-> From = Now ) or use the F9 shortcut 4. Now drag the Selection to your New time. The Drag and Drop options will pop up. You want to choose replace old with new.

☄ Helpful
I assume this possibility exists also in MC: Select the portion to be deleted (on all tracks), then Edit > Cut / Delete hole.

By events...I assume you mean the music? Events could also include midi control things like pedal events, pitch bends...etc... If it's music... they got ya covered above. turn off the snap to grid and set it to musical time... that lets you pick the exact place.... right click a track and split it before and after... then simply click and drag or select and delete.

you can move a clip to an exact starting point by right clicking and changing the starting time in the properties.

I just successfully moved 4 audio tracks to the beginning simultaneously by selecting them all and dragging one, which dragged them all.

Actually .... I've been busy recording.... but yeah.. you can do all that. I hva not tried to combine Gregs recommendation of selecting multiple tracks then right clicking to track properties and setting a specific starting time..... might work out OK..... but if not, and you know the starting point of one, you can copy and paste that starting time into the others.

That's what I would have thought but if you have more than one clip selected, I don't think that was an option when I was trying this last night. I know it works great for a single clip, because that's way I normally would have done it. I guess you can do it a clip at a time, though.

the setting of the properties doesn't work for multiple clips - but you can drag multiple clips.

O.K..... I've found a much better work around ............... If you want to move multiple clips to a specific time, you can change the Snap settings to use a marker. So if you create a specific marker at the exact location you want the drag to go to then before performing the drag, change the Snap properties to Marker and turn off Musical Time, temporarily. Now select all the tracks you want to drag and then move them close to the marker. They should snap to the marker. As an Example, I used the downtown.cwp demo ....

Okay, first of all I thank you all very much for the good info. I'm a little slow in getting back. (The entire world has conspired to keep me offline.) Ive got that solved. I've got another question, bt I suppose I should save that for a new post.
