Hearing my voice through headphones when recording

Sorry if this may have been asked before but is there some setting I should use to hear my voice (rather than just the instruments) as I sing a vocal track?

I've got into the habit of lifting them slightly off my ears when singing but this defeats the purpose of closed-back headphones as it is allowing a very slight bleed into the microphone.

I use a Behringer B-1 condenser mic, AKG K-44 headphones (I know, I know . . . must invest in a better pair!), UA25-EX interface and Sonar 8.5 Producer.

Thanks.

You have your headphones connected to the UA-25ex, yes?

You need to look at Direct Monitoring on the UA-25ex. What that does is mix the signal coming in from the inputs (your microphone) directly into the output signal (headphones/master output jacks). You can turn this on with the Direct Monitor Switch directly to the left of the Output knob on the front panel.

Use the Direct Monitor Volume knob, directly to the left of the headphone output, to blend in the direct signal with the sound coming from the computer.

For more info check page 11 of your manual.

Thanks for the super-quick reply! I'll try that out tomorrow - after midnight here in Ireland. G'night!

Someone's out of tune and it's not me 'cause I tuned up last Sunday!

Yea, just about every interface these days has some kind of built in mixer. Chappel seems to have the dope on yours.  Be sure and have the manual handy, too.
