Slightly OT: Cakewalk VST Adaptor Question

Has anyone any thoughts on this? I may have raised it before, but I'm in love with a certain EQ and I can't give it up easily. None of the below issues occur under XP only Win 7.....

I'm currently trying to get the Cakewalk VST adaptor 4.51 to like my favourite EQ - the PLParEQ3. This is so I can run it (the EQ) in CD Architect. I've managed to get the EQ working under the Sound Forge VST adaptor by JBriding the EQ to 32bits (yes, that worked!). But I can't get to work properly under the Cake adaptor. Well, I can get it to play, sort of, but not to burn without skipping unless it's the last thing in the chain - which, of course, one does not want. I can flip over to XP to burn but I'd rather not.

The problem is that don't know if it's a Cakewalk Adaptor issue under Win 7 or a PLParEQ issue under Win 7.
Not expecting a silver bullet. Just thought someone here might have been through all this with CDA & the VST app.
Many thanks
FS

Since you have CD Architect you probably also have Soundforge. Since SF can use vst effects why not apply the EQ in SF and then bring that file into CD Architect? You can preview the effect the EQ has in SF before applying it.

Then there's the other possibility of bringing the file back into Sonar, applying the eq to the file, and then bringing it back out of Sonar. Since we're talking about a .wav file that should be easy to do.

It's a pity Sony won't be updating CDA.

My reason for wanting access to VST's in CDA is for one-step compilations of previously released material. I do a lot of this sort of thing and it needs to be done quickly. CDA is ideal for this.

This EQ simply placed flat in the chain adds a mystical and useful sheen to lifeless material - but cant be placed last. My interest is why it should not work in a CDA5.2 chain under Win 7 but work well under SF10. The difference may lie the Cake VST adaptor ...

As a work-around I can boot up the XP partition and master in that but it doesnt solve the issue. Yes. I would pay good money for an update to CDA.
    Thanks

The Cakewalk VST adapter is only meant for SONAR version 4 and earlier. It has nothing to do in the later versions because they open VSTs without it. If there are other compatibility issues, like 32/64 bit or such, the VST Adapter can not do anything to them, AFAIK.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

The latest version of the VST adaptor (4.5.3, 7-21-2010 ) is 32 and 64 bit and is frequently used outside of Sonar for purposes similar to those described above.
