Has anyone upgraded to X1?

I'm upgrading from MC3 to X1 essential and i'm wondering about the basic setting it up.
For me the hardest part of MC was setting it up.

My question to anyone here that might have made the transition is:
Is there a way to segue into X1 from MC without having to retell my pc everything all over again...such as asio settings, file paths, etc....

Would it be essential to remove MC 3 prior to uploading X1?

Thank you!

Rick

Nope... I've heard that X1 changes everything and being old and set in my ways, and not liking much change.... I'll stick with MC4.

no, in fact I'd advise that you DON"T remove MC3 and leave it on your machine.  you can always use the plugins and FX from either in the other.  plus, if you get in a bind with X1 and can't figure something out you can always go back to MC3 if you need to.

most of the settings get transferred over from previous versions of cakewalk.  I have not done a direct MC3 to X1 type of installation, so I am not 100% certain, but I think that most settings should transfer.  it will even tell you that it's importing user parameters and it may take a little while.

ASIO - I'm not sure if that's one setting that gets transferred or not.  but even if it's not it shouldn't be difficult to change it.

Thanks, Beag!   I'll keep my mc3.  It's a great relief to know most, if not all, will auto transfer.

I'll try and make more room on my pc for the large new tenant.
