neard MIDI question !

Hello,

Sorry if you find this question completly stupid !!!

I started a new project for Brass ensemble composed of :
1st trumpet line
2nd trumpet line
french horn line
1st trombone line
2nd trombone line
euphonium line
Tuba line

I inserted an instance of EWQLSO Play for all the brass, except for the Euphonium, only found in Garritan Concert and Marching Band.
My Midi in in a Emagic MT4.

So for each MIDI track, I choose :

Trumpet 1
Input MT4 Channel 1
Output Play_VST
Channel 1:Play_VST

Trumpet 2
Input MT4 Channel 2
Output Play_VST
Channel 2:Play_VST

And so on ...

The problem is, when I'm in trumpet 1 MIDI track, I can hear music while playing my keyboard, but one I switch to Trumpet 2 or French Horn, I don't have any sound.

I changed the Input channel to CH1 and then I hear sound !

I thought I had to affect a different Input channel for any instrument, so that when I play on the piano, I only hear the sound I want.

Am I wrong ?
Is this a problem in Sonar ?

How can I fix it ?

Thanks very much, and sorry for this stupid question.

Alex

Sounds like your MIDI keyboard controller is transmitting on Channel 1. You need to set it to the desired MIDI channel, e.g. tell it to transmit on channel 2 when playing the Trumpet 2 part.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Is it possible to tell the keyboard to play all midi channels ?
That's quite boring to have to change all the time, as soon as I change on Sonar.

Is that a stupid question ?

    Thanks

As Bit say's , you either change the transmit channel from your controller or use OMNI mode for all inputs and when you select the track to record you should only hear that channel responding to the controller. It's better to use the transmit channel method if you are using more than one soft synth. I find some instruments trigger when your in OMNI mode even though the track is not selected.

Do you mean Omni on the keyboard or on midi track in Sonar ?

If in Sonar, I hear all the sounds, whether I'm on trumpet or on french horn ...

    I probably missed something.

On my keyboard I don't have omni or all channels.

Ok if your Keyboard only transmits on Ch 1 I'm not sure how to solve that.
I've always just left it on OMNI and changed channels with my controller. Not familiar with that soft synth. TTs-1 doesn't behave like that and it has 16 instruments. Might have something to do with you needing an individual instance of the synth for each instrument. There's got to be a solution. You might want to post on the X1 forum where there are a lot more experts. MY guess is the software hasn't changed in that way.
And yes by OMNI I mean Sonars input.
