Horsey
So, I did something this morning I haven't done in a very long time. My CD player died in my vehicle, so I (GASP!) listened to the radio. I tuned past the 318 talk shows and 4,792 rap/hip-hop stations to find one of the four remaining rock stations. I may have lost count somewhere along the way, so these numbers might be slightly off. Anyway, I found myself listening to Van Halen's cover of Pretty Woman. Personally, I prefer the original version, but I digress. I admit, my mind was not focused on the song. I was thinking about a project at work, the boneheaded twit that nearly ran me off the road, and the fact that I had not had nearly enough coffee. Anyhow, I was aware of the song playing in the background. I knew the lyrics. I even knew Dave's version of the lyrics. I don't know what happened, but something went Terribly Awry. David sang, "Pretty woman, I don't believe you it must be true, No one could look as good as you Mercy!" That's where it all turned sideways. I don't know if it was due to static on the radio, the fact that I was really bored, or if reality twisted upon itself. Instead of hearing "Mercy!" I distinctly heard him intone, "Horsey!" Suddenly, I saw the song in a new light. The view was somewhat disturbing. Horsey? Really? Where did that come from? I had this mental picture of Diamond Dave in his prime, strutting around the stage, gazing deeply into some star-struck fan's eyes and moaning, "Horsey!" I started thinking about situations where such a line could be used. I don't know what it means, really. Is it a bad contraction of "Have Mercy"? It's kind of a conversation stopper. I mean, what do you say after someone drops that on you from out of nowhere? Therefore, I plan to use it frequently, regardless of whether or not it's appropriate. "Hey, Jim! How's it going? Horsey!" "No, I don't believe all of those scopions in your office are mine, sir. Horsey!" "Does that make you look fat? Horsey!" Yeah. I'm thinking this is going to be a good day. Horsey!

If I'm not mistake, didn't Dave do a horsey (flapping lips) sound after saying mercy or horsey? or was that a Grrrrrr sound? You maybe onto something here Bubba....

I've re-read this thread now. This may just be the dumbest thread I've ever started. I know it's up against some stiff competition, but this one may be the worst one so far. In fact, now that I've read it again, I think I've lost IQ points in the process. I didn't have much to spare, so I want to be sure that I don't keep reading any further. Of course, once I drop below a certain point, I won't posess the awareness of my perdicament and may very well descend into the realm of Talk Show Hosts and Gym Teachers. Horsey!

So I really read this thread for the first time. I'm just thinking outside the box here but what if DD was/is really a closet Tommy Dorsey fan and he was just giving a shout out to his hero? Sort of like all those backward satanic messages that were so prevalent in those John Denver records.

I think you may be on to something there, Bapu. I'd certainly rather assume that than actually go through the torture of listening closely to John Denver. [shudder and whinny] Horsey! Ok. I'm tired of it now.

Maybe the radio switched to that Cranberries song " Horsey".
