Big doins this weekend.

" border="0" />I'm having 18 cubic yards of topsoil delivered tonite. Tomorrow morning we start the big landscaping job in the backyard. We are going to do a border around the perimeter of the yard with mounds of dirt, and plant shrubs, plants, flowers etc. The raised bed garden is going in also. If we have time left, we're gonna put in the Pergola with built in BBQ grill, and a firepit, and a dance floor with a big thumping sound system, and strobe lights and one of those big mirrored disco balls, and a bar and a swimming pool and a hot tub. Yeah, a hot tub with swirling jets of rose colored water and a fountain that squirts Crown Royal and shaved ice.

Feel free to stop by.....and bring your shovel.
Some before pics.

Don't you need a room for the hookers and blow when you're banished from the house?

man.  you've got about 4X the size of my back yard.

I originally thought I was jealous because size matters.

then I thought about having to keep it mowed....

That's why I got a new tractor last summer, complete with cupholder. Heck, I go out and just ride around the yard sometimes even when it doesn't need mowing!

No, you're wrong sir. If it was a prairie, the village council would have approved my permit to keep a small flock of sheep here. I was quite upset by the denial. Not because I fancy myself a noted tender of livestock, nor due to a need to shear fresh wool, but because....well....just never you mind why I wanted sheep in my yard sir! That's a mans personal choice.

Landscaping, when properly done, diminishes the mowable area of the lawn.

This is always a good thing.

You need that guy Mohamed to come to visit... the guy from "Yard Crashers".... he throws down some serious backyards and...wait... it gets better.... he doesn't eat your BBQ pork or drink your beer.....

but it also makes it harder to mow the parts you do have left to mow.  if I had a tractor with a deck as big as Randy's (size does matter), it would not be difficult really at all to mow his yard as it is right now.  but put that tractor in a landscaped yard where he's having to wind his way around landscaped areas with that big deck and he's asking for trouble.  he might have to trade his big deck tractor in for a zero turn standing mower.  and they don't have drink cup holders.

Jed would be mistaken. If you look closely at both pictures, you will see my dog Elvis. He allows no critters big or small in his yard. 2 weeks ago, the wife let him out early one morning, and as usual he tore across the yard to scare the squirrels and birds loitering about. For the very first time, he was finally able to leap in the air and snatch a low flying bird in his mouth before it could get high enough to escape the yard. I was awakened to the sound of my wife screaming "ELVIS...stop...drop it!" which he did, but stood over it, looking down on the bird with what she described as a "I really thought it would be more fun than this, and taste better" look on his face.

Elly May said she'll have a talk with Elvis about his rage issues.  I'm not sure, but I think she meant your dog.
