I've never owned the rack module so couldn't say for definate but reviews, etc... say the vst version gets pretty close. Although there's a user review on kvr, from a rack owner, that says otherwise :

I dont' use the Bass station synth that much. I got it free w/ a novation keyboard.  I tend to use UGo's rez synth instead.  He's got a new version coming out, I think.  Check on kvr for news of it.

Two years ago, before picking up Komplete it would have been:

Dimension Pro
Rapture
RM IV
Jamstix
Pentagon

These days, Kontakt is #1 by far.  Absynth and Reaktor are fighting their way into the top 5.
