Unexpected Silver Lining

I was just reading an online article that I found a link to on Huffington Post.  It was by a fellow who had written much for publication (i.e., magazine articles) but was now facing the first attempt at writing a book.  He solicited advice from a couple of dozen published non-fiction authors on what’s needed for success in such an endeavor.  About a third of them strongly recommended that avoiding internet distraction was essential to reaching one’s goal.  One of them even suggested that one should only write on a computer that has no internet connection whatever.

So, all you who have DAWs isolated from the network to avoid the need for anti-virus software, etc. ... you’re probably way more production than the rest of us.  Personally, I’ve got to admit that at work, the moment I get my inspiration blocked, I instinctively pull up IE to check my personal email or tune into what’s transpired on this or the KVR forum in the few hours since I was last there ... or checking recent submissions to Huffington Post.

you know I've seen that symptom in my life as well.  I may need to re-evaluate my computer/internet strategy both at home and at work.

Agreed, home and work could have a negative impact on forum posting.

    I hadn't thought of that.
