Opening audio clips into an external editor
IIRC, I'm sure it was possible to configure older versions of Sonar (prior to X1) to open an audio clip into an external editor by double-clicking. This was done by choosing a particular option and telling Sonar the location and name of the editors .EXE file. Does that option exist in X1 and if so, where is it? I've found the click behaviour option but it only seems to allow nothing, Clip Properties or Loop Construction View.

or see this article: http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013099 After following the article, your audio editor will be listed under the Utilities menu in SONAR X1 Producer. And it seems, to edit an audio clip, the clip must be clicked on so that it is selected, then go to the Utilities menu to select your audio editor to open it, but the changes made to the clip will be saved in SONAR. My point is that double clicking the clip doesn't seem to automatically launch your audio editor as it worked in older versions of SONAR.

Thank you everyone for your replies and links. So it is still possible to add items to the Tools menu (or as x1 calls it, the Utilities menu) but this leads back to my original question. As Thomas has also observed, it no longer seems to be possible to double-click to open a wave editor. TIme for a feature request I think. Incidentally, I remember now. I used to use the free Sonar Tools utility by Bruce Ennis to modify the tools menu in older Sonars but to my knowledge, this utility hasn't been supported for some time now and may not work with Win7 x64 and X1, so I haven't tried it since upgrading.
