windy moment

Oh the irony,

We had a nasty thunder cell blow through last night. When the winds first arrived I heard some weird low frequency sounds. I didn't care... we really need the rain.

This morning we learned we would have to cut our way out of the drive way.

One very large tree covered and poked a hole in my wife's Hinda Element's rear end.

I guess we got lucky with a near miss on our house's roof line.

My chainsaw wouldn't run because I've been using it as a stump grinder... the engine runs great but I've evidently hurt the clutch. Ouch... it got real hot before I gave up.

So I had to use a hand powered bow saw... and now my arm feels like it's going to fall off.

It all happened before I had my morning coffee. :-(

I just wanted bapu to know just in case he thinks tonight is a good night for movies... it's probably not.

Sorry to hear that you had to put in that hard work and about your wife's car.

Good to hear that was the only damage.

+1.  I hope insurance covers everything.

That's some Catch 22 you have, Mooch.  You needed to cut the tree up to go get a chainsaw to cut the tree up.  Hmmm...

Sorry to hear of your tragedy. Those cells seem to come up fast down south. Glad  you and the wife are ok.

    Sorry 'bout it....

Last year at this time the same thing happened to me.  I had to hand cut  branches to get out the front door.  Thankfully, city workers came by and hauled away the tree.

Just thankful nobody was hurt.   At your house and mine.  It did make for a lot of great pictures and stories!

I just felt real bad about the owl that was living in my tree.

Sorry to hear that, Mike.  And that would be real tough without a chain saw!

Not a good idea to use a chainsaw for purposes not intended. That's why they include such instructions with chainsaws such as ,  do not attempt to floss your teeth with this saw, I guess they can not cover all possible contingencies....

For stump grinding, it's often worth paying someone with one of those carbide tipped machines.... it's faster, and you don't have to fear the kickback of a speeding chain with jagged teeth on it opening your leg.

Haven't we told you about that mal-practice before?

Glad no-one was hurt although I suspect the wife isn't too happy about the state of her rear end.

I'm also kinda glad the chain-saw didn't work, a sore arm is not as bad as losing your toes because you refuse to put on proper footwear.

    Will this affect movie night?

I was going to bring  over "Twister" (the movie not the game).

Thanks for the good thoughts everyone.

The Honda is insured... and my arm started working again.

Those bow saws are razor sharp... they scare me worse than the chain saw. :-)

    best regards,

WoW!!! You do not need to have those things show up!! As for stump grinding we have a carbon tipped grinder for that purpose...which reminds me..need to do something about another stump.....

We had one cell show up here yesterday morning...that thing almost took our driveshed down by taking a tree down...big 70' poplar....we had the neighbour down today with a portable sawmill to take the wood apart...now I have it drying out...heeheehee.
