Hissing sound in X1

Hey all -
My project for some reason started hissing at me during playback and I have absolutely no idea why. It just happens in random spots, just a quick hiss for about 2 seconds, then goes away. It will come back periodically throughout the song. I have muted all my tracks and listened to them back 1 at a time to see if it hisses again, and it still does no matter which track.  I am using a profire 2626 with the latest ASIO drivers. Another test I did was fire up Sonar 8.0 and there is no hissing in there with the same project..

PC Specs and equipment are:
Intel I7 quad core 930
6gb ram
Profire 2626 audio fire wire interface

What is going on and how can I resolve this?  I'm stuck dead in the water here.. :(

Demo plug-ins often introduce noise like that at regular intervals, but you say you're not hearing it in 8.0 with the exact same project?

Yes in 8.0 there is no hiss, but I am not sure why X1 is doing it.. I don't have any demo plugins that are on my project.  Could there be a faulty plugin in the project?

start disabling plugs one by one and see if you can find a culprit

Mmmmmmm... this almost sounds like a driver or sample rate problem...

You don't by chance have your onboard sound chip enabled, do you?

    Re:Hissing sound in X1 *resolved* 2011/06/08 12:22:00 (permalink)
Found the issue..and this was a strange one.  In the waves bundle, the plugin l316 stereo was the culprit. I did a fresh VST scan and it was hanging on that one. Funny thing is, it's not even being used in my project. Sonar 8.0 VST scan hung on the same plugin when doing a scan as well.  Disabling that plugin seemed to get rid of the hissing.

The issue seems resolved so far, but today is a new day..and with each new day, new problems seem to arise.

    Thanks all !  much appreciated.
