sonar is not compatible with RTAS

the VST folder is located at:
    c:\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins
    and
    C:\program files (x86)\cakewalk\plugins

depending on whether you're running 32bit or 64bit sonar.

And these locations are also arbitrary. You could put your VSTs anywhere and just point SONAR to them...but since so many find a default location it's usually easiest to stick to what SONAR selects.

right - what I listed is just sonar's default location during installation.

    Hi Leee-

If you mean the ones that ship with it, they're still stored as presets in the Windows registry, not in files. If you're talking about ones you or someone else creates, they can be stored wherever you like and imported/exported as files. Those have a .clr extension.

Thanks Susan (nice to see you again), I guess that explains why I can't find any of those files, but I thought the 3 default templates that ship with it would have been .clr files.

I just have all these vocal takes in this song I'm working on and there's a row of 7 or 8 tracks all the same color.  It makes things hard to organize.
