Moving cursor with computer keyboard

Is there a way to move the cursor, one pixel at a time right to left with the computer keyboard? I can click where I want to position the cursor, but then to really hone in on where I want the cursor to be, it would be nice to move it with the computer keyboard. In Adobe Audition you can do this with the 'arrows' keys. So I'm wondering if you can do it with Sonar X1 Producer? Hope I'm being clear. Thanks.

Too complicated to explain briefly.  Google "move windows cursor with keyboard" for an answer.  Actually I don't know if this gets you what you want, but it looks promising.

Sonar X1 Producer already has the numbers keys programmed so that wouldn't work. The numbers keyboard has some really good things, too. If only CakeWalk would program some keys to move the cursor. I use that a lot when available. Thanks for the reply.

Just zoom in more. Then you can aim the mouse pointer better.

I love Dave's answer for straightforwardness - so I have to ask - why would you want to move the cursor a click (whatever distance that would be) at a time as opposed to putting it where you want it with a mouse point?

I'm just curious - not saying it's a bad idea!

Thanks for all the replies. When moving clips around I like to position the cursor exactly where I want it and align the clips with cursor. With the numbers keypad you can move clips about in this manner so I thought there might be a way to move the cursor like that as well. I guess not.

I also wish Sonar had this capability.  You can do it in Sound Forge, and it's something I use all the time for really precise positioning.

Another related function that I would like to see is being able to play a couple seconds up to the Now Time and stop.  Sound
Forge does this by Ctrl+Shift+K (I think).  The Roland VS880 has buttons for preview to and preview from.  It really comes in handy in situations like comping, when you want to get right between two adjacent notes, or cut off an unwanted noise after a note but not remove any more of the note's sustain than is necessary.  You can set the Now Time to where you just hear the beginning of the note or sound, then back it off one small increment at a time until you don't hear it when you play up to it.

One can get by by zooming in and using the mouse, but in my experience it's less than ideal and bit clumsy compared to what I described.  I was really hoping that X1 would include this capability.

If Cakewalk reads this forum I would like to add something that would work great, besides moving the cursor around with computer keyboard.

I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio and it is great. When working with clips and moving them around, when they touch each other, the clips light up.

Example, I put a new clip on track 4. I want it to align at the end of the clip that is in track 3. I move track 4 clip as close as possible to track 3's clip. When they touch, the end of the clip on track 3 lights up. And the start of the clip on track 4 lights up as well. In SVMS this is a great feature and would be welcomed in X1. Or X2 as the case may be.
