What is a USB Hard Drive?

USB hard drive, the speed can make a difference of not only minutes, but of hours. Now, an even faster version, USB 3.0, has arrived, and some external USB hard drives are able to take advantage of that

A USB hard drive is a device that stores data retrievable by a computer on external hardware that is connected to the computer via a USB port. The USB harder drive is advised a acceptable way to provide added storage capability to computers that accept fix capability .on their internal drives.

I wouldn't use a USB hard drive for your audio drive as it needs to go through the USB bridge on your motherboard which induces latency on your system. They are good for backup storage, though not very fast. If you really want to get the best then look into SSD's. As it is now, with today's super fast processors, and huge amounts of ram, the hard drive is the biggest bottleneck in the system. Going with SSD's turns that on it's head, making your weakest link one of the strongest.

Just started using Rosewill USB 3.0 Drive Docking for backing up to 1T drive. Speed nearly 3 times original usb backup.

It really is good to have a USB hard drive to store or back up you files but I would not suggest using them in line when retrieving or using music on software.

It produces some lag when accessing from an external storage all the more when you use a USB port.  I would suggest that if you need anything from it, copy it first to your internal hard drive and access it from there.
