A friend from work came by with this today.......

It is reported to be one of only two 1940 Ford "deluxe" cars in this  condition in the country. It looks newer than my Toyota. Has won several awards. It looked much better in person. Folding jumper seats in the rear. A flat head V8.

The car has an interesting story. It was bought by the mother of the guy who drove it by when she was 16 years old. It sat in the garage for years until somewhere around 2004 my friends dad decided to fix it up. It is sad that his mother has passed away but the car is fully restored and kept in a heated garage. NICE!

    Lovely car!

The 'army stripes' style of the rear lights is an interesting touch that seems to reflect the era.

Yes, beautiful.  The chrome looks great on it.  Back when chrome belonged on a car.

I hate when car companies try for a retro look by throwing some gaudy piece of chrome onto a modern design where it just doesn't belong.

    Sexy Beast,

I have Studebaker and Hudson museums with a few hours drive from me, I'm not that big of a car enthusiast........ until I walk through one them. The shear style of the 30's and 40's cars still make me shake my head in wonder - where did it all go?

Lovely car that. Hardly a straight line to be seen. A wholly different design approach in those days, I like it a lot.

we had one!  it was gold.  they didn't make automatic transmissions or air conditioners in them.  if you wanted A/C you had to have a dealer or 3rd party install one.  ours didn't have one.  $4k.  one price.

The owner claims that this car has no problem going the speed limit and gets about 18mpg. He was taking it out to a local auto lot for an old car day they had there.
I'm sure when he is done it will go back into the heated garage for a few more years.
I mistakenly thought that a car that is 70 years old might be very antiquated. Surprisingly it had a lot to offer and mechanically seemed very well refined, even had a version of cruise control.

I like how you can see the clouds reflecting on the trunk of the car.  Nice detailing.
