Universal 120 v2 programs not showing up in 32-bit

Hi all

This is similar to my post some time ago "Rapture patches in 64-bit Sonar not available in 32-bit".

I installed Universal 120 v2 and it only installs to the 64-bit version of Rapture. To get it them into the 32-bit version, copy the two "Universal 120" folders from the hidden location "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Rapture\Programs" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Rapture\Programs".

Also copy the folder "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Multisamples\Universal 120" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Rapture\Multisamples\Universal 120".

Last, but not least, "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\LFO Waveforms_U120" to, you guessed it, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Rapture\LFO Waveforms_U120".

That's what I did anyway, and it works.

Aren't installation applications great?

You are running a non-default installation.  It seems as though your 32bit version of Rapture is less then version 1.2.2.   Technically you are not supposed to have more then one version installed at a time.

From the Rapture 1.2.2 patch notes: http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013167

    • When installing Rapture on a 64-bit Windows system only the 64-bit or 32-bit version can be installed at one time, if multiple installations occur only the most recently installed version will appear in your host.

The Universal 120 v2 installer will check to see which Rapture version exists on a system.  It has detected that you have a 64bit install then installed it for Rapture 64 bit.

I'd double check that you are running at least Rapture 1.2.2 for the 32bit version as the programs will sound different if you are loading them with Rapture 1.0 or 1.1.

    Best Regards,
    Chad

Thanks for the input - I wasn't aware of that. That does explain things.

So if I have both Sonar 32- and 64-bit installed, does that mean I should only install the 64-bit Rapture, and that will work in both versions of Sonar?

    Cheers, John

Or, I suppose I should just install the latest 32-bit version, and get rid of the 64-bit one?

That's a tough call.  You know that old saying...  If it ain't broke...don't fix it.  So if your current setup is working fine for you I'd recommend keeping it that way.  But if you do change things,  as far as 32 vs 64, I'd install and use the version that you use the most.  :)

But I do hope in the future Cake supports having both the 32 and 64 VSTs installed at the same time.  They'd just need different dll naming/ids to avoid conflict.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks Chad. I'll leave it as it is for now. I'm confused how I got two different versions in the first place. But that can be left as a little mystery for now
