Changed from ASIO to WDM then back and now X1 hangs

Hi all,

I was trying to solve a problem regarding mono/stereo outputs for my sound card (which I will post separately) when I messed up X1:

I had everything running fine for a long time, X1b 255 with my delta 1010lt ASIO 48/24 XP sp3. All working as expected for weeks. Yesterday, I switched (in Audio options) from ASIO to WDM to try something with outputs from the card (which didn't work). The wave profiler ran etc. The only other thing I remember changing at some point when I was tinkering was to check the 'show outputs as mono' box for the ASIO driver

After the profiler ran for the WDM driver, I switched back to ASIO driver but now my larger (>8 tracks audio) projects take forever to load and X1 just hangs when I press play. Really confused as to what could have gone wrong.

There is no profiler for ASIO, but it feels to me like I need to do some sort of reset with the ASIO driver. I tried removing AUD.INI, which did do something as I lost my friendly output names, but the problem persists

Hi,

I came to the conclusion that X1 and my 1010lt don't want to play when it comes to changing stereo pairs into two mono channels. Any project that I enabled 'show mono outputs' would fail to load and/or play at all. To undo this:

Start sonar without opening a project; disable 'show mono outputs'; Change driver from ASIO to MME under prefs; open the problem project; set to 'none' any track/bus/external inputs and outputs that are set to 1010 channels (including the master); change back to ASIO; allocate all the inputs/outputs to the 1010 channels you want them on; save the project

This made my projects open and play again properly. Don't know what the real cause is, but I won't be ticking the 'use mono outputs' in future
