Can Delta 1010lt stereo outputs be separately assigned as two mono outs?

Hi,

I am using X1b 255 with my delta 1010lt ASIO 48/24 XP sp3. This combination has worked well for several weeks. The Delta 1010LT has 8 audio outputs which are grouped as stereo pairs.

Does Sonar recognise these as pairs only? : I checked the 'stereo outputs show as mono' box and the outputs do indeed change to show three separate selectable outputs - left, right, stereo. However, when I pick left output eg for an external input send, if I try to add another external input elsewhere the right output is not available on the drop down send output box (just like the stereo pair disappears when you allocate it as an output)

Would be very grateful for any help - I have a Lexicon outboard effects MX unit which can apply different effects to left/right inputs so being able to have this option doubles my available effects!

Regards

M

I think you need to select on the channel it to be MONO. (on the channelstrip there is a button wich toggles between mono and stereo)

There is a new M-audio delta driver from May 2011.

Hi, thanks for the reply, changing the track to mono makes sense and I didn't try that. Will be home tomorrow so will try it then and report back. And thanks for the heads up on the driver, will update that too

    Kind regards,

    Post script:

I didn't find  a true solution, although I do have a workround in case anyone is interested:

set up the outboard effect as an external insert on a stereo bus; send out on a 1010 stereo pair and return on a 1010 stereo pair; on the track you want to effect, put two sends to this bus (Sonar lets you create more than one send to the same bus; pan one send hard left and the other hard right. You can then vary the send level on each send as well

Works a treat for my MX400, which can apply a different effect to each of the left/right inputs. The return comes back in stereo on one bus so the two effects are mixed together and cannot be separated, but I don't find this a restriction

If you wanted to send to two discrete outboard effect boxes, you could split the stereo cable itself and put left into one effect box and the right into another. If the effects boxes both have stereo returns, I use 2 into 1 RCA adapters on the ins of my 1010 when I run out of return channels.

    A couple of other points:

    1)     Trying to set up Sonar/1010lt to do mono sends really messed Sonar up and meant I couldn't open existing projects. I will post seperately how I recovered from this

    2) the newer 1010lt drivers for XP are unreliable - check the M audio forum. I reverted to the original driver

    Thanks again
