Loop creation trouble, please help!

I'm having problems creating click tracks.  I'm sure it's something really basic that I'm doing wrong, but I can't find the solution on any tutorial or the online manual and would appreciate someone telling me what I'm doing.

Here's my problem.  I set the tempo for a backing track or other project, open the browser, and navigate to the Metronome folder to use the Urei samples there.  Then I drop the Urei clicks using the snap feature directly on absolute musical time.

Here's where it gets sticky; I bounce the result to a clip and edit the clip to be four beats long (or whichever).  I would like to export this as a wav file of some sort so that I can drag and drop my clicks in the future; this is something I do frequently, but for whatever reason pre-constructed click loops weren't included with X1, and I'd like to add clicks with accents where I want them, not just on beat one anyway.

So, if I export the result from what I just did to a regular wav using loop explorer, for whatever reason it's not actually four beats long.  If I enable groove clip looping, it moves the beats I just placed and adds slice markers that have nothing to do with my click track, and gives me an extra one I can't use besides.

I'm getting pretty frustrated, almost to the point that I won't bother using X1 for backing track creation, and won't bother upgrading to the next Sonar version even though I've been a user since Cakewalk Pro Audio 7.  What the hell am I doing wrong?  I follow the tutorials and instructions exactly, and Sonar doesn't want to just let me create a simple looped click track?  What gives?

Thanks,
Walter

Try applying trimming first. If when you apply groove clip looping and the clip stretches, there are other threads that were opened up if you search the forums.

This is the weirdest thing. If you had placed the beats, bounced to clip, then slip-edited the ends of the clip to exact measure boundaries, I'd expect groove-clipping success. Sometimes, at worst, Sonar will wrongly set the number of beats, so the whole clip will be shrunk or lengthened, but that is easily corrected. If this persists, maybe you could post the offending audio clip you saved so other people can examine it.

On the other hand, some people with sandy bridge, W7, and a certain service pack have been getting weird results from Sonar. If you might fall in that category, see this and this.
