Oh the irony.....

The designer of the AEA R84 Mic

Talks about the quality of his mic while using a cheap headset mic with an AEA R84 sitting right there in the picture.

    That's either a $600 DPA or a similar Sennheiser.

Ask me how I know? I rented 6 of em last Nov. and had them shipped in for a week of Miami Heat Basketball training camp coverage.

    :-)

Well, in any event I guess he could not place the R84 mic where he sounded "best"?

That video I linked to yesterday... there was a very fancy condenser mic just out of frame... it didn't make the mix.

It is very funny to me as well that they didn't just use the ribbon mic... they must be afraid of the sound of the HVAC or something to have made use of a close mic for such a simple voice to tape exercise.

Now I am very worried that you might actually buy one of these and blame me if it's not what you hoped for. :-)

    YIKES!!!!

    Please, Try before you buy!

The only thing I can blame you for is forgetting the Kettle Corn salt for the popcorn on movie night.

Oh yeah, and not enough butter on the popcorn.

Maybe I should just do it myself next time?

I'm glad you gave me the heads up about the special salt.

    I've already stockpiled the butter.
