Session Drummer 3 and Routing? Drum maps related question...?

Hello

I love the new X1, had it since the release, and the new UI has really helped me to create music in a fantastic way. Thanks Cakewalk:)

However, I do have a question. I have followed the Master Class at Cakewalk TV for drum production 1. It seem like a great way to use different tracks for all drums to apply different FX etc. I did follow the whole process even though I choose my own drum kit. However I believe that I have done routing wrong or perhaps set up the drum maps incorrect. I would be thankful for some help.

I have done all the settings and routed the tracks as instructed. I get the drums playing and see this in each channel in the mixer. I have loaded the the TR-808 and loaded the sounds I wanted to use, one per drum. The "problem" begins when I use the step sequencer.

The step sequencer can load a lot more sounds than SD3 can. Thus I get some sounds to play on the same track, for example the drum sound "splash", "Tamb" and "ChiCym" all play ´the same sound on mixer which I routed to channel 7. Same thing with different kick drums on channel 1. The problem is that I am not sure what the real name is. And that I could get 2 different drums playing on the same channel.

Is this related to drum maps? How can I set this up in a better way? I want to set up a couple of construction kits.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Yes, the kits in Session Drummer "overload" each pad with multiple instruments, so the audio output assigned to a given pad will host several sounds. I think the intent is that you'll never use more than one of the sounds on a pad because they are closely related. If you really want to use more than one of the sounds assigned to the same pad, you'll either need to Edit SFZ files to design your own kit that separates them to different pads by changing their note numbers, or you can just bounce one of the parts to an independent audio track with the other MIDI part temporarily muted.

Another possibility is simply to add a second instance  of Session Drummer to the Project, which will give you another 8 independent audio outputs. You'll just need to use a separate MIDI track(s) to drive the other instance. EDIT: Or setup a drum map that routes those note numbers to the different instances.

    Hey

    Thanks for your input:)

Well, I guess I only use the 12 (digital pads also) anyway.

I haven't really understand the fully scope on using drum maps yet, bit I'm getting there;)
I normally mix samples and my own drums sounds from hardware and software synths. Guess I just need to learn how to set that up as well.

Any ideas where to learn more about the drum maps in X1? I did see a tutorial on youtube, but can't find it again... :(
