How on earth do I make the vertical velocity lines disappear?

How on earth do I make the vertical velocity lines disappear in Piano Roll View?
I tried a number of things and they won't go away!

    In the PRV menu Deselect Notes->Show velocity.

    IIRC it doesn't "stick" though but I use the controller view so they don't show then anyway.
