the lonely crowd

Hi,

A little guitar/dobro instrumental called 'the lonely crowd'.

Please check it out, if you've got 3 minutes and a couple of seconds to spare: the lonely crowd

As always, all questions, comments, complaints and suggestions are welcome...encouraged even

Thanks!

Impossible for anyone not to like this.

So the guitar starts over here > and the dobro over here < Then at 132, there's a brighter guitar that comes in over here > then the dobro comes back over here < it's really cool the way things moved around and the mix sounds very nice... It gave me a slight Paul Simon vibe (excellent guitarist...)

Loved it. As an acoustic guy it is right up my alley and you are delivering the good extremely well. Particulary liked the tone on the instruments

Right up my street Gary, I love this. The blend of guitar and dobro is perfect. Just a lovely composition, the way it kicks up a gear at 1:46 made me smile - beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful!  I love the lydian vibe.  Very well put together.  Nice recording and mix.  I like the section starting at 1:35 - the guitar all of a sudden came alive - not sure what you are doing there but it sounds really cool.

Great little tune, and superb playing Gary.  Loved the way the percussion sort of creeped in.

Some really interesting changes here.  Great tone.  An Acoustic Alchemy feel for sure,  loved the orchestration.  I can't find anything to critique.  Really very nice.

hmm...let me play this for my ex-wife and get back to you on that Thanks, as always, for listening and commenting. Although I don't necessarily hear the Paul Simon vibe myself I definitely agree that he's an excellent guitarist and sure do appreciate the reference. Thanks again.

    Janet: Thank you!

miguelito:  Hi Mike. Thanks very much! Is that a Taylor you're playing in your profile pic?  It looks gorgeous...would love to hear it...hint, hint

jamesg1213: Hi James. I'm glad you liked the tune. To tell you the truth, when I was trying to figure out what to do with this song, I listened to some SMB tunes to see if I could figure out how you create such a great sense of space in your recordings...well, although I failed in that department, your music is a constant source of inspiration. Thanks.

kennywtelejazz: Hi Kenny, how are you? Great to hear from you. Thanks for listening and taking to time to leave a comment. Glad you liked it.

    guitartrek: Hi Geno,
    I love the lydian vibe.
Yes! Thank you...I'm a complete sucker for anything with a lydian tonality. Thanks for noticing haha...

Great tones and playing for sure - have to have another listen before I'm totally convinced about the percussion though. Sounds ok, but it just threw me a bit when it came in. Maybe just me.

Acoustic Alchemy has a lot of CDs.  I like the ones from the early 90s the best.  Jerry Douglas appears on a couple of thier CDs too.  Saw them in concert once, they were HOt.

Enjoyable listen.  Catchy.  I think the drums may be just slightly too loud particularly after about 2:00, but that could just be my ears.  Do you play anywhere near Abingdon?  I get down that way occasionally and would like to hear a live performance.

Tastefully played & recorded, right from the first note! Wonderful composition as well Gary. ( I sometimes think that's the most difficult process with making music) I hope you plan on putting out a cd. If so, put me on your list please!

paulo:  Hi Paulo. Thanks for listening and commenting. Did you ever come to a conclusion about the percussion? There is a section in the middle that sounds kinda awkward to me...never could put my finger on exactly why so I didn't know how to fix it. Not sure if we're thinking of the same part, tho... Anyway, thanks again.

    darylcrowley:
Jerry Douglas appears on a couple of their CDs too.

Well...say no more. If Jerry Douglas has played with them, I'm sold Thanks, once again, for the tip...I owe you one.

gcolbert: Hi. Thanks very much and welcome to the forum. You could be right about the drums...I have a difficult time trusting my ears lately. I'm gonna give it a rest for awhile and go back and listen again...thanks for the 'heads up'.  I As for playing near Abingdon...I don't play out at all but thank you for asking!

lhansen: Hey Larry, how are you? Thanks for the kind words. I agree with you about composition being the most difficult process in making music...also the most rewarding, I think There's never gonna be a cd but you are more than welcome to download anything you like!

marcos69: Mark, thanks very much...greatly appreciated!

    Hi, Gary,

This is really a spectacular piece of acoustic guitar "artwork"!

Beautiful warm, rich tone, fantastic, very tasty playing, and excellent composition and arrangement.  I love the little changeup around the two minute mark.  The mix is crystal clear, wide and definitely very pro sounding.

This is so relaxing, fresh, and airy sounding that I'm on my fourth listen for the pure enjoyment of it.

Truly an outstanding job, Gary. Have a good one, buddy!
