Unavailable icon on new recordings.

Hello. This is my first post here.

I recently started using Sonar X1 Producer ed. on a RME Multiface II interface. Everything went fine. I was able to record my first song and mix it. Left that session there for about 3 months. Did other recordings fine.

Now I go back to my initial song, because I want to re-record a guitar track. But as soon as I record, the waveform of the previous recording disappears. And I can see my newly recorded waveform but cannot listen to it. It has an icon as if the new recording was unavailable.

Can someone enlighten me on what this icon means?

I'm using Sonar X1b build 242 x64 Producer Edition. Just in case this helps.

Are you recording the new audio on the same track as the previously recorded audio? You may be in Overwrite record mode. Is the track set to show layers? I don't know about X1, but in 8.5 that's the icon I get if I mute a clip.

    Thank you so much Chappel!

I was in Overwrite mode that's why it would immediately destroy the previous track. Then I don't know why but whatever I recorded would be instantly muted. I didn't know about the mute tool until now. Had to do a little research on these subjects, but now I now.
