Unbelievable accident

As I was driving home from work Friday evening, the car in front of me swerved off the road, drove right into a ditch and eventually stopped by running into a telephone poll.  Witnessing something like this really got to me! As I was pulling over, I kept wondering what had happened to cause a driver to do such a thing. My first thought was a stroke since we weren't driving on a highway, but I still suspected either alcohol or over tired, even though the sun was still up, but was on it's way down.

The driver was an older woman who miraculously had gotten out of the car. I asked her if she was alright and she said yes. She didn't appear to have sustained any injuries what so ever and despite the slight communication differences  ( not sure where her ethnic origin was, but I suspect she was slovik ) wasn't very shaken.  Another car pulled over and called the police and a tow truck for the lady.

We both took a close look at the damage and realized that the air bag had not enaged on her Honda, despite splitting the telephone pole into two pieces.  I can't believe after seeing this that she walked away from this situation, let alone without any visible injuries.

I hope she had her seat belts on.  Maybe that's what saved her.

Or perhaps it WAS some Wodka.  At least she didn't hit anyone else and, apparently, wasn't injured.

I'm quite positive she had her seat belt on. Well, she said she was trying to pull the visor down so the sun wasn't in her eyes when she lost control of the vehicle.
