Missing: "automatic"muting when recording audio in loops...

Hi everybody,
I just started using Sonar since Reaper is crashing more and more, but I really miss a feature I had in Reaper (and also in Cubase): When recording audio takes in loops (means: You just loop one or more beats to give the singer a chance to do a hard part again and again and then pick out the best take), all is fine, but when playing the takes, ALL takes will be played by default, and you have to mute all takes by hand... so, I search for "automatic" muting of all takes except for the last or actual one... Otherwise, it is really hard work to mute all, the demute one, mute it again, etc. Also, an "automatic" demuting of the chosen or higlighted track would be nice, too...
Anybody had this problem too, and anybody has an idea for solving it?

Thanks in advance...
Olav

    Rockinbear,

The Sonar 8.5 Reference Guide.pdf file has lots of great information (1576 pages), including "Take Management and Comping Takes" starting on page 326. I recommend you take a look at it. It should answer all/most of your questions.

    Good luck.

That's weird... in 8.5 what you're you're asking for is automatically done for me... I wouldn't have a clue how to turn it OFF! But check in "Record Options"- those controls are in there- also look in Global options and Project options...

Win7 Pro 64 bit sp1, i7-960 Intel processor, 8 gig RAM, SSD 64gig boot drive, Samsung F3 1TB D drive, nVidia Quadro 600 video card, Gigabyte X58A mobo, LG Blu-ray drive, 500 Gig E, F Drives, dual-monitors: 26" each, 2 X Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 ASIO hardware I/O's, Tascam US-428 control surface, Sonar 8.5.3 and X1 Producer, Avid Media Composer 5.0.4, Vintage 42-input Amek console, much outboard analog audio gear, acoustic world instruments, and noise toys!
