Recording saved as a .wav file

Hello all.  I saved a Home Studio 6, 12 track recording.  Days later when I tried to re-open it, all the tracks were .wav files.  They will not play on Home Studio 6.  Did I hit a wrong button?  I've been using this program for years and have never run into this problem before.  Thanks for the help.

Were they audio (wav) in SONAR or was it a MIDI project?
All .wav files will play on SHS 6, that's what they use for audio. That is audio.

    Edited for erroneous info.

What format did you save the project in? CWP? CWB? MID? How do you know the tracks are WAV files?

daveny5:  All I thought I did was save the song the usual way (by hitting the "Save" icon in the tool bar at the end of recording and mixing.

I now they are .wav files because I can see that in a folder.  Plus when I click on the folder it tries to start in Windows Media Player.

Don't click  the folder. The audio tracks you record with SONAR are all wav-files, that's the way it's always been. In most Windows-PCs clicking a wav activates WMP. If you click the project file, it will launch SONAR (or it should :o/).

Open the project in SONAR, that's the safe and correct way.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
