Jittering clicking noise when recording

Hi, when recording, I get a 16th note clipping noise.  Not the metronome but more like a clipping noise that is in set 16th note intervals.  Any advice?  I have played with a few of the audio settings but no luck.   The noise does not sound when I play a demo file, only when recording.  I am using a Focusrite firewire saffire pro.  Thanks

Ok, does it change with your tempo settings?
It really sounds like the metronome to me.
You have a few options for metronome try changing them.
Sometimes there is a master volume in the lower buss pane.
If not then look for wireless interference. Mouse, keyboard, telephone.

hi, no it does not change with the metronome settings.  I double checked and made sure all settings were set to off.   I am sure it is in the audio setting because the quality of the recording is not very good as well.

got it down to more like a random clicking and popping.  Making sure my levels are not peaking, played with the buffers a bit and it helped a little but now still random popping, clicking and sometimes sounds like i am recording in front of a fan.  Kind of a jittering effect during recording.

Would it be possible for you to post screencaps of all the tabs in your audio options?

Those symptoms usually point to audio drivers.
Make sure you are using the most up to date drivers and that they are for the OS you have installed.
ASIO is the preferred driver mode in Sonar.
Did you turn off your wireless internet?
Run the DPCLAT meter and test for background programs that can cause issues.
The more info about your system the faster someone can help you, you have not posted any computer specs.

Computer specs? Soundcard? Always post your specs when you ask a question or put them in your signature so we don't have to ask for them.

Are you using a demo of a plug-in.
