3 months since X1B ...... surely X1C must be any day now ?!?

Hi

X1B - March  2011

Any chance someone from CW can give us some realistic approximation of how far off X1C is ?   ie: a matter of days or a couple of weeks or still a couple of months away  ??

    Hi Tim
Do you KNOW that there will be an X1C? Who confirmed that there would be?
    Or are you assuming?

X1b came out on March 21st, not Feb 5th. That's only 3 months ago.

If you are looking at the sticky thread at the top of the X1 forums, it started at the Beginning of Feb to provide progress reports on X1b, but was finalized and delivered on March 21st.

At the same time I can see what you are saying. My biggest concern is that the quick fixes are not fully tested, and are "use at your own risk". I wish they could at least roll out an official "stable" update that encompasses those (with a few extras thrown in).

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

Yes, I think there's a lot sweeping up to be done and I'm confident an X1c is imminent.  Obviously CW would like to make this the last one before X2 at the end of the year so I don't blame them wanting to make it all-encompassing (as far as these things can be) and robust.

Hi codamedia - my bad - original post + thread title corrected.

Hi Skyline_UK  -   I'd be  *stunned*  if  X1C  [ or whatever it will be called ]  will be the last X1 update - I actually think CW will extend the "ususal" cycle until X1 is much more solildy bedded-down.  IMO, given all the outstanding issues X1 has - and will likely still be there after X1C - moving to " X2 " so soon would alienate a *huge* part of the users base.

I'm not sure what new features would warrant an X2... I just want X1 to be polished up a bit.

I'm with Josh on this one. PLEASE! No more new features, just get the apple shined up, don't give us a peach.

Seriously, with all the work that went into X1 so far, Cakewalk would be crazy to issue an X2. You can't build brand recognition if you change the name every year. Cakewalk X1 or Roland X1 should be it until X1 is replaced by a new paradigm, not a bug fix or update.

I can wait for stability and functionality but I'm not interested in anything new - at all. I'm still trying to get everything working according to the documentation.

    Anyone with me on this?

X1C with the bugs ironed out would give us what we should've got with the original X1 - I still don't think we're there yet.

At some point in the development process, Cakewalk has to know that they will be doing a X1C or not.  I know that someone (might have been Brandon) suggested that another is on it way but wasn't being specific.

I'd think it would be reasonable to let us know if they are planning to release an X1C by this point or not.

Honestly, from a marketing point of view, once X1 is polished, those sitting on the fence (for X2) will jump on board. If X1 is left as it is and X2 comes out, those sitting on the fence will continue to sit on the fence. Furthermore, you'll get unsatisfied customers who bought X1  -these will either wait for the next version (X3) or cross over to another DAW. Me, for one, will not get X2 if X1 doesn't get it right - I usually skip versions anyway. So, unless X1 is polished, X2 will be a failure - sales and marketing-wise.

I too have no intention of getting X2 if it comes out as early as this fall. Too, too soon. Let what you already put out get settled, and get completely RIGHT. Don't just move on to the next [still faulty] version just for the annual marketing advantage.
