    Rik,

Some nice right hand work there.  I would suggest a little more of bridge in the middle but nice sounding guitar.

    Greetings, Rik

    Hey !
I loved this piece !!  I'm also developing the tremolo technique..its tough huh, lots of practise ?! You're obviously making good progress which is nice to see :) (or hear even !!) How did you get to the speed at which at you're doing it now ? Theres so many techniques on the guitar to learn isn't there..I find myself working fairly solid in one area for a couple of weeks ( like the tremelo ) make some progress but then realise my technique has fallen in another area ( like hammer-ons / pull offs) Its hard to get an all round balance if you know what I mean ?!! What are your thoughts on this ?
Anyway very nice piece - you've inspired me to practise my tremelo...thanks for sharing !

Hi Kev, thanks for listening and kind words. As for the tremolo, there's no shortcut I'm afraid, just practice, practice, practice. I don't use the classical p a m i tremolo though, I play p i m i  because that's how I figured it out by listening to records. If I want a longer tremolo I play p i a m i like the flamenco players do. I don't like to focus on one technique to long because you'll inevitably neglect other aspects. I don't practice techniques on their own but write a tune in a particular technique to keep it interesting.

Tremolo is such a hard technique.  It sounded good, but is bit uneven in some places, but I need to hat off for such an attempt.  The guitar sounds beautiful!

    Rik,

Not a fan of the tremelo.   I appreciate the technique and the practice required, however,  I much prefer your orginal Nocturne.  Like the playing, changes in tempo, the shades of emotions and the general feeling that comes across, the piece is really quite awesome.  Classical with some hints of jazz.   Love it...(the original).  It might be intersting to combine the two and maybe have a single movement with the tremelo included but for me at least, it becomes quite fatiguing hearing the whole song with that technique.

    Nice work.....

    Rik,

Not that I didn't like it.   Just maybe too much of a good thing and all that.  I like the music, performance, etc...  Just too much of the tremolo for my taste throughout the entire song.  I think it would be interesting to combine the tremolo piece into the original performance.  I really like the music a lot and your playing is extremely expressive which makes it even more enjoyable.

Hi Mark, thanks for the kind words. My piece "nocturne" has been a work in progress for 20 years and has been a jazz piece, travis picked, flatpicked, played like a classical composition and now tremoloed, and survived. It could return in the form you suggested, or something completely different, so stay tuned for the next episode of Nocturne, the tune that refused to die.
