Just curious...
I wonder what percentage of Sonar Producer users have transitioned to X1?

I have. I made the complete transition about 2 months ago. Once I got the kinks worked out, I'm actually much happier in X1.

No way to know how many old-timers came along, but 100% of all new customers are X1 users, and that's what matters.

I was all in from the get go. I knew that we were going to be using X1 anyway, so why wait? Yeah, there were some bumps in the road, but we know X1 really good because of it now, and feel that we are ahead of the curve in regards to that. I recomend everyone using X1 to forget 8.5 altogether. I went from Pro Audio 9 to Sonar 1. And all through the decade of versions. So if I can get another decade out of X1 with mostly the same interface as it has now, I will be glad to have jumped in with both feet.

I wasn't a Sonar user until X1. Reaper and Studio One where my tools of choice. That said, I've been trying my hardest to stick with X1. Reaper is incredibly stable for me and I appreciate the constant updates and fixes but I find myself spending too much time keeping up with the changes and customizing it and not enough time making music. Studio One is and awesome too. I can't wait to watch it evolve into something amazing as it matures. I doubt that I'll ever outright abandon the other two but for now X1 is my go to DAW.

Have went from 8 Studio>8.5 Studio>8.5 Producer>X1 Producer and have all the faith that this is a great product to be involved in and firmly believe "The grass isnt greener on the other side"

I've been using sonar since 1.0. I was going to get pro audio 9 and then Sonar was announced like a week before I was going to purchase =). Sonar 1 XL was fantastic for the time.

I do no think the real percentage will ever been known... I only know the transition from 8.5 to X1 was a happy one for me. I really like Sonar. I started with version 4 LE that was included with a sound card (E-MU 0404 pci), and slowly upgraded from that to the full 8.5 producer version. Although I liked 8.5 more than other DAW's that are around, the real "click" for me was X1. I always liked shortkeys more than mouse clicks, and X1 has a set of logical shortkeys - more logical than 8.5 as far as I concern. I found my way around in X1 much more faster than I did in the previous versions of Sonar. You can do a lot with just one hand on the keyboard and one on the mouse. X1 just seem to "fit" more in my mindset than 8.5 and previous versions did. Just as simple as that... After a while I realised I did not used 8.5 in several weeks. I always do a dual boot install to test new software - to make sure the hardware is exactly the same, making it far more easy to compare the software versions without hardware differences. I had 8.5 as backup if something would go horribly with X1 - but that never happened. So the partition that contained Sonar 8.5 is erased some time ago, and used for other things... In short - the only thing that reminds me of 8.5 at this moment is the big box on the shelf - slowly gathering more and more dust as the time passes by. I made the full transition to X1 and wont look back...

Been using CakeWalk since the 90's. Have upgraded every version since. I had issues with X1 when it first was introduced and ended up jumping on Presonus Studio One Pro for stability reasons. When Cake started putting out the patches & hotfixes, X1 became very stable for me, and now I'm pretty much addicted to it. Still, keeping my eye out for version 2 of Studio One as a safety net....

still on 8.53. Pro audio didn't get "right" till Pro Audio 6.0 or so. Sonar didn't get "right till about 4.0. So...... Plus, I need a new computer and sound card to go 64 bit.

I started with Sonar 2, 4, and 7PE... but never tok the time to really learn more than the very basic basics until X1 and I am 100% X1, no looking back. Julien
