Excessive latency with CWHS2

I can't get the latency below 20ms which is unusable for headphone monitoring while recording. This Core2 Duo machine is the fastest computer I've had. I've had the latency lower on slower machines.

Using a SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum EX. Running XPPro SP3, 4gigs of ram.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

soundblaster audigy was not designed for low latency.

you can try downloading and installing ASIO4ALL and change to ASIO driver mode.  that might work.

my best advice, however, is to get a soundcard designed for low latency.  check my website for some recommendations.

So far it seems to work - still getting familiar with it and seeing if any issues crop up. Many thanks!

I have a soundblaster LIVE on a secondary computer and I have sonar on it as well.  I had to use ASIO4ALL with it because the soundblaster drivers would not go below 50msec without popping and clicking.

When I used HS2 with a Soundblaster I could never get the latency down to a usable level.  I had to juggle the buffer rates constantly to tweak whatever I could.
Replacing the soundcard was one of the smartest music purchases i've made in the last decade.
