File recovery........
Anyone have a solution for recovering a corrupted file that will no longer open normally other than manually picking audio WAV. pieces by their recorded sequence and pasting them together in a new file? I’ve tried to open them in (safe mode) the file comes up but “fatal error” comes up with it and it won’t let me go any further.

Yes, i have the solution. Use your back-up that you backed up after every session.

I managed to save my corrupted project but with a lot of missing plugin settings and complete loss of the prochannel settings:
-I use Sonar 64 and I figured the problem was a plugin so I tried the safe mode option (hold Shift while loading) but this didn't solve my problem.
-I installed Sonar 32 and used safemode which worked at this point I saved a version of the project with a new file name (no plugins version). At this point Sonar 64 would still crash if I loaded the project so I decided to reinstall it.
-After reinstallation I could open my no plugins version in Sonar 64. I also broke my vstdirectory intentionally and then reinstalled them one by one to see what was causing my crash. So far all my old plugins are back and I haven't had a crash in a while!
Anyways that worked for me, but now I use autosave with versioning as well as saving a backup version manually.

Yes backing up is very important especially when you worked hours and hours on your project. People use some sites to back-up, but I prefer using my Ext. drive.

I use two separate internal SATA drives to make backup copies as well as a third SATA drive for my main file storage which is separate from the drive that Sonar is installed on.
If you are using a laptop or a computer with less drives, then I would recommend using two external USB drives on which a copy is placed. Or an external SATA drive (if your box has an Esata jack) and a USB drive.

I backed up some corrupted files once.
Maybe twice.
You never know until you find out they are.

Send the project file to cakewalk tech support, they might be able to rescue it or identify what corrupted it

Some file systems retain versions of files. Right click the file and choose properties. See if you can restore to previous version.
Under computer properties, system protection, drives are configured to restore system settings and previous versions of files ,then. ..
Then, in that case in the file properties Window you will previous versions you can .restore.
