3.0GHz AMD Athlon II X4 Quad-Core Processor [2MB Cache] will it run Sonar X1 essential?

i have just purchased, but not yet recieved a Rain Computer "Stratus" which comes with the 3.0GHz AMD Athlon II X4 Quad-Core Processor [2MB Cache] which is the recommended hardware for Sonar Home Studio 7xl.

my question is this sufficient to run Sonar x1 essential?

if it would be possible for someone to answer back quickly it would be greatly appreciated as i'd like to take advantage of some of the special offers being made right now.

thanks.

Same processor here, running X1 Producer with 6 gig ram. It's been able to handle everything I've thrown at it without a problem.  But I guess it depends on what kind of music you do. For rock or hip hop you'll be fine. Orchestral might be stretching it as track/vsti count can get pretty high.

That will absolutely be able to run any flavor of SONAR. SONAR can run on a dual, quad, octo, whatever. The difference is how many tracks, plugins, and synths you'll be able to run. On your cpu you should be able to run pretty large projects, considering how much RAM and what type of hard drives you get.

    thanks for the feedback

my needs are pretty simply so far.  i mainly do acoustic guitars and vocals with some MIDI instruments thrown in for good measure.

i expect to get more into virtual instruments a little more as i do like synthesizer music very much and am itching to use my Akai MPK61 to a fuller capacity.

the Rain computer "Stratus" will expand to 16 gigabytes of RAM, so adding a couple more gigabytes of RAM on top of the 2 GB that come with my system should do the job, huh?

thanks again.  any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

You're only getting 2gigs of RAM? That's not enough. Get at least 4gigs, minimum. If you're running a 64-bit system then get 6 or 8 gigs.

well, that's what the system came with.

i fully expected to add more RAM.  i have already checked the price for more (DDR3 133, not too bad) and planned to immediately bump it up to 4.

i am upgrading from an XP system to Windows 7, but have no experience with 64 bit.

but your suggestion to bump it up to 6 or 8 gigabytes is definitely doable.

will do a post after i get to spend a little time with the Rain "Stratus" an give my impressions for anyone else interested in that system.

i went with it because it was affordable and i could buy it on payments.
