Posting an Image to the Forum

It would be helpful to post pieces of screenshots sometimes, either to ask or answer a question.  The ADD IMAGE button here asks for a URL and does not like one pointing to my local machine.

I am obviously missing something basic.

How does one post an image?

Upload it somewhere on the internet.

Use the URL that is associated with where you have uploaded it.

OK.  Wanted to share some Guitar Rig settings and also request some ideas from others.

If you use Dropbox you have a folder on your local computer that you use just like any other but it is mirrored in a cloud server on the 'net so you can publish anything you like with unique URLs for each file.

    Very handy

For an image to show in a post it must be hosted on a website that allows what is called "hotlinking". They are pretty common these days. I like photobucket and have been using it for years. They recently upgraded the free accounts to unlimited storage/limited bandwidth. To see how to upload photos to a site like Photobucket check out the link in my signature. One of the forum members here went to a lot of trouble to post a detailed explanation, with pictures, of how to do it. I think it will answer all your questions and get you started.

And here's the URL for Photobucket if you'd like to check it out. It takes very little time to create an account and start uploading pics there.
