Here's a Trivial Bug for You
Not sure if anyone else has noticed this. I just saw it in X1, but I had a pretty old version of Sonar before, so I am not sure when this first showed up:
• Select a time range.
• Go to Insert | Series of Controllers
• Insert Pitch Wheel (for example, -8192 to 0 during the time of an 1/8 note)
• Look at the Event List. You will see the range you requested plus one extra value after (ex: -790).
The extra pitch bend message is usually close enough to the correct final value that you may not notice it, but your instrument will end up out of tune.
Here is a long-standing quirk that has been in Cakewalk/Sonar for as long as I have used it: Sonar adds too many pitch bends using Insert. Just for example, at 120 ppq, an 1/8 note is 60 ticks. Why would it need 120 pitch bend events? That's four per tick. I am using a small number for illustration, but whatever note resolution I use, I get a wasteful number of events. This is needless CPU and MIDI strain and requires me to make multiple passess with CAL to get things under control.
